Along with leading CCI, he now pastors Cornerstone Anglican Church – West Loop, a congregation which he planted. In 2016, he and his wife Sarah welcomed their twins Joshua and Eliana into the world, and their son Simeon was born in early 2019! Nate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from the University of Illinois and a M.A. in Biblical Studies from Wheaton College. For fun, Nate loves to juggle. In 2008, he started a juggling business called Catch This!

Director of the Theological Development Cohort

Kate Warren

KATE is the theological director of the Chicago Campus Initiative and loves teaching and helping others see just how exciting the truths of the Christian faith really are. She has a B.A. in Bible and Theology from Moody Bible Institute and master’s degrees in Systematic Theology and Church History from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.  When not being nerdy, Kate loves to rock climb, ice skate, and walk in the woods with her husband, Joel, who is the congregational pastor at Cornerstone Anglican Church-West Loop.

Local Mission Director / Cru

Nancy Bartolec

NANCY was ten years old and at church camp when she was struck by Jesus’ love, kindness and forgiveness for the first time. Her initial thought was, “If everyone already knew this, they would certainly have already told me. People must not know this. They need to know this.”  Later on, it was that same sense that people needed to know Jesus and His love that compelled her to be involved with Cru as a student at Ohio State, eventually serving full-time with Cru for the last 25 years. Nancy has served internationally and stateside on a variety of college campuses. She has served regionally and nationally, providing leadership to campus team leaders on the field across the country. Nancy currently serves as Missions Director in the Midwest where she recruits and equips leaders to mobilize teams of staff, students, faculty and volunteers to further the reach of the gospel among students and professors so that every student and faculty can truly have an opportunity to know Jesus.

Local Mission Director / Cru

Jeff Koch

JEFF has been working with college students for nearly 25 years.  After graduating from the University of Michigan with a B.S.E. in Nuclear Engineering, Jeff altered his career path to join the staff of Cru, an organization that had a lasting impact on his life during college.  What was initially intended to be a two-year experience has now turned into 25 years of mentoring students, leading teams, and seeing hundreds of lives changed.  He has served at Purdue University, Clemson University, and at several colleges in Chicago.  In addition, Jeff has lived and traveled extensively overseas, including a year each in China and in the Philippines.  Currently he gives leadership to a team of 15 Cru staff members in Chicago, where Cru is developing movements at a dozen different universities such as DePaul University, Columbia College, and the University of Chicago.  He also serves as Local Missions Director, coaching Cru team leaders located throughout Indiana, Illinois, and Louisville. He resides in the west side of Chicago with his wife Angela and their seven children (ages 6-18).  Besides spending time with his family, Jeff loves the outdoors, cycling, saltwater aquariums, and running.
